The Family Project™
Families living life to the full in Christ.
The Family Project™ is a faith-based discipleship and family-growth initiative created to help couples, parents, and families strengthen the relationships, values, faith, and everyday practices that shape life at home.
Families are formed one interaction, one decision, one conversation, and one generation at a time.
Yet in the demands of everyday life, it is easy for families to become focused on simply getting through the week — managing schedules, work, school, activities, finances, responsibilities, and relationships — without intentionally considering the kind of family they are becoming.
The Family Project™ creates space to do exactly that.
Rather than waiting for relationships to become strained or families to reach a point of crisis, The Family Project™ takes a proactive approach to strengthening the foundations that help families grow together.
Through biblical teaching, intentional conversations, practical tools, reflection, and family-centered resources, participants are encouraged to examine the beliefs, habits, relationships, and values that are shaping their homes and consider what they want to intentionally carry forward.
Strong Families Begin With Strong Foundations
Every family has a story.
Every family develops patterns.
Every family communicates values — intentionally or unintentionally.
And every generation has the opportunity to decide what should be carried forward, what needs to change, and what kind of legacy it wants to leave behind.
The Family Project™ helps families move beyond simply reacting to life and begin asking intentional questions such as:
What do we want our family to be known for?
What values are guiding the way we live?
How is our faith actually being lived within our home?
How well are we communicating and connecting with one another?
What patterns from previous generations are worth carrying forward?
What patterns need to end with us?
How are we helping our children understand who they are?
Are we creating a home where people feel loved, known, safe, valued, and accountable?
What are we teaching the next generation through the way we live?
What kind of legacy are we intentionally building?
The goal is not to create a perfect family.
It is to create an intentional one.
Faith That Is Lived, Not Simply Taught
The Family Project™ is rooted in the belief that discipleship begins long before a child walks into a church classroom.
It happens around dinner tables.
In car rides.
During difficult conversations.
Through conflict and forgiveness.
In the way spouses love one another.
In the way parents respond when they are frustrated.
In the priorities families establish.
And in the countless ordinary moments when children are watching how the adults they trust actually live what they say they believe.
Churches play an essential role in discipleship, but the influence of the home cannot be replaced.
The Family Project™ seeks to help churches and families work together to create a stronger connection between what is taught at church and what is lived at home.
Building Healthy Relationships
Healthy families are not families without conflict.
They are families learning how to navigate conflict, communicate honestly, establish healthy boundaries, extend grace, take responsibility, forgive, reconnect, and continue growing together.
The Family Project™ explores areas that influence family health, including:
Marriage and couple relationships
Communication and conflict resolution
Parenting and family leadership
Identity and belonging
Emotional health
Healthy boundaries
Faith and spiritual formation
Family values and priorities
Technology and cultural influences
Life transitions
Generational patterns
Purpose, calling, and service
Creating meaningful family traditions
Building a healthy family legacy
The focus is not simply on solving problems.
It is on helping families develop the tools and awareness that can prevent many problems from becoming crises in the first place.
Identity Begins at Home
One of the most important messages a family communicates is:
Who are you?
Children begin developing their understanding of themselves long before they have the ability to explain it.
They are learning whether they are valued.
Whether they belong.
Whether their voice matters.
Whether love must be earned.
Whether mistakes define them.
Whether relationships are safe.
And ultimately, what it means to see themselves through the truth of who God says they are.
For this reason, The Family Project™ and The Identity Project™ are deeply connected.
When individuals develop a healthy understanding of their identity in Christ, they are better equipped to build healthy relationships.
And when families intentionally reinforce identity, belonging, faith, character, and purpose at home, they help provide the next generation with a stronger foundation from which to navigate the world.
Breaking Generational Bonds
Every family passes something forward.
Some of those things are beautiful — faith, resilience, traditions, values, wisdom, humor, strength, and a deep sense of belonging.
Others are harder to recognize.
Families can also pass forward patterns of fear, shame, anger, silence, addiction, unhealthy relationships, emotional distance, conflict avoidance, control, insecurity, poor boundaries, or beliefs about ourselves and others that were formed long before we understood them.
Sometimes what feels “normal” is simply what has been repeated.
The Family Project™ encourages individuals and families to look honestly at what has been carried from one generation to the next and ask:
What has our family done well that we want to preserve?
What patterns continue to create pain or dysfunction?
What beliefs about marriage, parenting, conflict, faith, or identity have been passed down to us?
What have we accepted as normal simply because it is familiar?
What needs to be healed, challenged, forgiven, or changed?
What do we want the next generation to inherit from us?
Breaking a generational bond does not mean rejecting our families or rewriting our history.
It means becoming intentional about what we continue.
It means recognizing that the past may help explain us, but it does not have to determine what comes next.
Through biblical truth, self-awareness, healthy relationships, forgiveness, boundaries, accountability, and intentional change, families can begin building new patterns that reflect the life they want to create and the faith they want to pass forward.
For some families, that may mean learning to communicate instead of withdrawing.
For others, it may mean ending cycles of anger, shame, addiction, unhealthy relationships, spiritual disengagement, or emotional absence.
And sometimes it simply means deciding:
This may have been part of our family story, but it does not have to be the next chapter.
The Family Project™ helps families identify what is worth carrying forward — and what needs to stop here.
Because one generation willing to live differently can change what the next generation receives.
Designed for Every Stage of Family Life
Families need different kinds of support during different seasons.
The Family Project™ is being developed as a flexible initiative that can serve individuals and families throughout the family life cycle, including:
Dating and relationship preparation
Engaged and premarital couples
Newly married couples
Growing marriages
New parents
Parents of young children
Parents of adolescents and teenagers
Blended families
Families navigating transition
Empty nesters
Grandparents and multigenerational families
Resources may be offered through workshops, small groups, church-based programs, teaching series, family experiences, marriage enrichment opportunities, parent education, and practical tools families can use at home.
A Partnership With Churches
The Family Project™ was created with a larger vision than a single class or curriculum.
Our hope is to partner with churches and ministry leaders to equip families across every stage of life.
Rather than expecting one pastor, ministry leader, or church program to meet every need, The Family Project™ can provide practical resources and structured opportunities that help churches strengthen marriage, parenting, family discipleship, identity, and relationships throughout the congregation.
This may include:
Premarital preparation
Marriage enrichment
Parenting workshops
Family discipleship resources
Identity-focused programming for children and adolescents
Small-group curriculum
Family communication tools
Intergenerational mentorship
Workshops and teaching events
Resources for navigating important family transitions
The long-term vision is to help churches develop a culture in which strengthening families is not simply something that happens when problems arise.
It becomes part of discipleship.
Why It Matters
We believe healthy individuals help create healthy relationships.
Healthy relationships help build strong families.
Strong families strengthen churches and communities.
And what is intentionally built in one generation can influence generations still to come.
The Family Project™ exists to help families slow down long enough to consider not only:
“How are we doing?”
but also:
“Who are we becoming?”
“What are we building?”
and
“What are we passing on?”
Because family is about more than surviving the season you are in.
It is about intentionally creating something worth carrying into the next one.
